With a juris doctor from the University of Pennsylvania, attorney John Kai Lassen is the founder and managing director of Rockwick Capital, LLC in Wilmington, Delaware. A frequent donor to non-profit organizations, Kai Lassen is also heavily involved in various philanthropic activities.

One of Dr. Lassen’s favored charities is the Sons of the American Revolution (SAR). This national organization advocates the values of the nation’s founders, by promoting the ideals of liberty, justice, and patriotism. Founded in 1889, the SAR has grown to 28,000 members who can claim an ancestral link to the revolutionary era.

The SAR is now raising capital for its Center for Advancing America’s Heritage, to be located in an historic 1840s building in its headquarters city, Louisville, Kentucky. The center’s purpose is to counteract the decline of history and civics courses in public schools. The center will support the SAR’s outreach of traveling and permanent exhibits. It will also include increased space for its genealogical research facilities and administrative offices.

The SAR has designed the facility for an expected influx of teachers, writers, historians, and scholars. In addition, the 40,000-square-foot building will accommodate visitors from schools and other organizations. Officials project that it will attract up to 100,000 people in its first year.
