An experienced attorney in the field of corporate law, John Kai Lassen currently serves as the managing director of Rockwick Capital, LLC, in Wilmington, Delaware. Outside of his professional pursuits, John Kai Lassen actively participates in several community organizations, including the Delaware Nature Society, a nonprofit that strives to foster an appreciation for the natural world while working to protect it through programs aimed at preservation, conservation, and advocacy.
A major focus of the Delaware Nature Society (DNS) is educating the public. In addition to offering seasonal programs for individuals and families, the DNS operates a range of school programs, which provide students with hands-on, inquiry-based activities that are designed to expand their understanding of science and nature.
One of the more innovative educational programs offered by the DNS is its Overnight and Extended Day program. The program activities are held at local nature centers and are customized to meet the needs of each group. The DNS also offers themed overnight programs that are designed for specific grade levels and cover topics such as reptiles, watersheds, and ecosystems. In addition to science-based learning, each overnight program includes other fun activities like games, crafts, and toasting marshmallows.
